The 2024 Fashion Trends I Loved: A Year in Review

Can you believe we’re already wrapping up 2024? It’s been a year full of bold fashion choices, and I’ve been loving every second of it. From micro skirts to denim on denim, this year has been all about experimenting with fun styles and making serious statements. Let’s take a moment to look back at the trends that totally won my heart this year!

1. Micro Mini Skirts and Shorts

At first, this trend raised a few eyebrows, including my own, but it quickly cemented itself as one of the year’s defining moments in fashion. Showcased on runways like Gucci’s 2024 Spring/Summer show, it celebrated legs with a playful, flirtatious energy that felt refreshingly bold. When paired with oversized jackets or fitted tops, these pieces struck a masterful balance between daring sophistication and effortless cool.

2. Burgundy/Red

Burgundy and red completely stole the show in 2024, and I loved every second of it. There’s something about these shades that feels both bold and effortless—whether it’s a deep, moody burgundy that exudes sophistication or a fiery red that instantly commands attention. I especially loved seeing these colors pop up in statement pieces like handbags and coats, but even something as simple as a red scarf made any outfit feel elevated. It was the perfect way to add a little drama without trying too hard,

3. Statement Necklaces

Statement necklaces took center stage this season, particularly during the summer, with charm necklaces adding a playful and personalized twist to any look. Whether layered for a bold impact or worn solo for a striking statement, these pieces became a standout way to express individuality with style.

4. Tights

From colorful hues to classic black and bold patterns, tights elevated skirts and dresses, offering a chic and cozy layer for the cooler months. The perfect mix of practicality and style, they were a go-to for any fashion-forward wardrobe.

5. Tote Bags

Tote bags weren’t just an accessory this year—they were the accessory. A staple for years, they took on a whole new personality, transforming from a practical essential to a statement piece. Whether oversized and structured or soft and slouchy, they had a way of pulling an outfit together, proving that style and function don’t just coexist—they thrive together. I recently got gifted one myself and, while I can’t find the exact link, this one is very similar to mine and from Amazon.

6. Boot Cut & Flare Jeans

Boot cut & flare jeans made a strong comeback, quickly becoming a wardrobe essential. Flattering and comfortable, they offered a refined look that balanced ease with structure. Whether paired with sneakers for a more casual vibe or heels for added height, boot cut jeans elevated any outfit of mine with their timeless shape and versatility.

7. Suede Bags, Shorts, Jackets, and More

Suede was showing up in everything from bags to shorts to jackets. This soft, textured fabric added a luxe feel to everyday outfits, making it perfect for the transitional months between seasons.

8. Studs

Studded details had a major moment this year. From shoes to bags to jackets, studs brought an edgy touch to outfits, balancing femininity with a bit of toughness. They were the perfect way to elevate any look with some attitude.

9. Kitten Heels

Kitten heels and pointed toes made a graceful return, blending comfort with elegance. These shoes were ideal for those who wanted the sophistication of a heel without the height. They worked beautifully for both casual and dressy occasions, proving that minimal designs can make maximum impact.

10. Ballet Flats

Comfortable and classic, ballet flats were perfect for dressing up or down. Whether paired with dresses, skirts, or jeans, they gave outfits a feminine finish.

11. Denim on Denim

Denim on denim emerged as one of the standout looks of the year. Mixing various shades of denim, it offered a relaxed yet refined vibe that felt fresh and effortlessly cool. Whether it was a classic denim jacket, a tailored skirt, or your favorite pair of jeans, this trend reimagined the timeless fabric with a modern edge, making it one of the season's most wearable and stylish statements.

12. Fold-over Boots

Fold-over boots are one of my favorite fashion trends of 2024, and I can't get enough of them. I own the Madden Girl Evander Fold-over Boot. There's something effortlessly chic about the way they combine function and style, giving off that cool, laid-back vibe while still feeling polished. The versatile fold-over design makes them perfect for both casual and more elevated looks, whether you're pairing them with skinny jeans or a mini skirt. It's a trend that feels timeless, with just the right amount of edge to elevate any outfit.
